Douglas N Norfleet, better known as “Dr. D” has been in pastoral ministry in the United Methodist Church for some thirty-five years. Currently, he is serving as the Sr. Pastor of First United Methodist in Union City, Tennessee having arrived in June of 2018. When just beginning in ministry, he pastored congregations with as few as five members and years later, in the roles of Senior Associate Pastor at Brentwood United Methodist and Executive Pastor at Collierville United Methodist both congregations of 4,000+. He is a graduate of Trevecca Nazarene University (B.S. 1981) with a focus in Christian Education, Vanderbilt Divinity School (M.Div. 1984) where his focus was in Pastoral Care and Counseling, and Wesley Seminary (D. Min. 1998) where his focus was on Wesleyan Theology and the Poor. He has a heart for the least and the lost and the belief that the Church, the Body of Christ, is called to be the presence of the resurrected Christ in the world, tending to both the hurts and hopes of people with the good news of Christ. He also believes the Christian Church is the primary vessel through which God has chosen to redeem and restore creation and humanity. He and his wife Ashley have been married for thirty-three years (and counting) and have two sons, Jaron, who is married to Kimberly Howard and lives in Huntsville, Alabama, and Jacob, who is single and lives in Franklin, Tennessee. Doug and Ashley have an English Bulldog named “Guvner Beauregard”, a Yorkshire Terrier named “Sweet Pea”, and an enormous house cat named “Henry”. Dr. D is an Alabama Crimson Tide fan and is always ready to “Roll Tide Roll”!

I came to Union City in 1984 and was invited immediately to come to church by my Realtor friend, Eva Virgin. We quickly fell in love with the First United Methodist Church of Union City and the group of such sweet folks we met here.
I was born in Iowa, my parents moved to the west coast when I was a toddler to support the war effort. I met and married my husband, Gary in 1966, yes, some 50+ years ago.
We moved to Union City from California with our only son, Bruce. I was a business owner there. My company was a Marketing Representative into the Electronics industry. When we moved here, I opened an insurance agency representing Farmers Insurance Group and worked there until 2001.
I love being a part of the FUMC Staff. I can’t think of a better place to be. It a joy to serve this Church and our Congregation as their Financial Secretary/Business Administrator.
Hello everyone! My name is Riley Robertson and I have just moved to Union City, TN to take the position of Director of Youth Ministries at FUMC-UC. I am so excited to be here and I can’t wait to get started! I am from a small town in North Carolina known as Kernersville. I have always loved going to church, working with children, participating in youth activities and learning how to lead a youth group. While I am new to this role, I am so excited to work with your youth about getting to know who they are and helping them grow in their faith walk with the Lord. I attended Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina and earned a degree in Psychology in December 2018. I am in the Center for Youth Ministry Training graduate Residency Program also known as CYMT. I will be working towards a Master’s Degree in Youth Ministry. My hobbies include spending time outside, photography (trying to get a business started!), and making scrapbooks.
